Xerion will become a global innovation and cost leader across critical mineral refinement and electrodes, fueling a sustainable and resilient supply chain to power the next generation of American industry.
DirectPlateTM represents a transformational opportunity to reshape how America secures its critical mineral and energy supply. Our approach not only addresses immediate supply chain vulnerabilities but establishes a foundation for sustainable domestic production of essential materials. Xerion is positioned to become a cornerstone of America’s material and battery industry infrastructure.
At Xerion, we refuse to accept tradeoffs and seek to rewrite the entire script rather than capture a small portion of the pie.
Founded in 2010, Xerion was born out of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with the goal of completely rewriting the battery industry script. Starting with a battery architecture breakthrough, the team later sought to find a way to create electrodes with stronger energy density metrics. After years of research, the team developed DirectPlateTM to selectively plate metals using low-purity feedstocks.
Starting with LCO to create best-in-class electrodes, the team later made a breakthrough in refinement for alloy-grade cobalt. Today, Xerion is working to commercialize the applications of DirectPlateTM across metal refinement and electrode manufacturing.
Xerion is located in Dayton, Ohio in the US heartland. Our headquarters are located within a 15-minute drive to Wright-Patterson AFB, the largest US Air Force base by employee count, and within a day’s drive of many of the largest and most important manufacturers in the US.
Let's work together to power the future of American innovation.
